Writing An Upsr SampleAn upsr sample has many characteristics in common with a short essay, but that is where the similarities end. The short essay is not just a straight-forward collection of facts and opinions that will be read and decided upon by a panel of people - an Upsr sample is meant to stimulate the intellect, to show and share the writer's thoughts. In an Upsr sample, you are not being judged based on the length of your essay. You are being judged on the quality of your essay, not the length.If the essay you are writing is going to be turned into a curriculum for middle school students, it would be better to write the essay using the upsr forms. Instead of having your students read the essay and evaluating it, they can sit down with their parents and their teachers and choose what they want to do with the essay based on what they want to do with it. This allows for the greatest flexibility for the student and the teacher.To begin with, the Upsr forms allow you to tell a st ory or teach a lesson. For example, let's say you are writing an essay to show how an individual reacted to a breaking news event. First, take the time to research the event to find out what was happening at the time and then summarize the information in your Upsr sample. Next, write the event down as if you were the story's protagonist.Next, change your Upsr sample to show how this character reacted to the event. Take this Upsr sample and rewrite it as a short story. Once you have rewritten the Upsr sample in this way, you can present it to your audience in the form of a short story.Another example is to use a Upsr sample to show how a group reacts to an issue, such as finding themselves faced with a social crisis. Taking this example, let's say that a terrorist group is using their training camps to send subliminal messages into the minds of their captives, telling them that the United States Government has brainwashed their fellow soldiers into serving the Government. By using th e Upsr samples, you can write an essay about the emotional toll this has had on the people who have been captured by the terrorist group.Finally, you can use an Upsr sample to teach a group of students how to write a short essay. Rather than using the formal structure that is used in a public school, let's say that you are trying to teach an advanced course in writing at an elementary school. Instead of teaching the students the formal paragraphs of the essay, you can let them decide what they want to read.Let's say that instead of having them read an essay they will be reading, they prefer to watch the video, or they want to listen to a recording. These students could also choose to read the material in chapter form. They would learn the concepts in that way as well.The purpose of Upsr samples is to demonstrate how a group of students can effectively study and write a short essay. The focus is on building communication between the student and the reader rather than telling the read er what to think. This allows for the greatest amount of freedom for the student and the teacher.
